why

What the hell do you do with poetry
it really really is contemptible and stupid
and it is all a waste of time
it is a waste of time to write it
and it is even more a sacreligious waste of time
to read it
and to do it in public
should be a death defying exercise
in brutality
against the reader of the poetry
it should be rewarded in bombs and poison gas
it is not the revolution
the revolutionaries were not the ones
writing letters to the ladies
they were the ones
toting the guns
leading the ones
that thought that they were having fun
with them and their gun
on the run
that is a man with a weapon
and a reason to use it.
