unfortunately, too few of us out there get the point that the system is never going to take care of itself.

Being on the inter net is like sticking your head out of the water for a minute.
taking a breath and then going down for more.

why are we on the internet, if not to reach out to new audience?

who are we talking with if not our audience.

If no one is listening, who is our audience?

if no one is feeding back, who is our audience feeding back to?

where does all the information go to
and why?
what can we do with the information that we do have?

who is the audience that we could have?

how do we realize and gain the opportunity to evaluate the audience
that we could have?

who is the audience that we could have?

we can reach out to the world.

I am the ninjayogi of this site.

I am a ceo whos job as see e o
is to be the artist as the ceo.
this is a fully realized project,
constructed in multimedia
that is creating the media
that you could actually care about.

It is too much to hope for,
so i let the world build it instead
of i

everyone who is someone, because they
built something,
built it because
they thought that it had to be built.

upon the people who create things
some people who "create" things
look at the things that others call creation
and call them junk
we see these wonderful things
as exploited failed wasted attempts
at a writer attempting
to get an audience to create
this is the open mic
of the internet.
anyone can speak
and all that they have to do
is to
show up.

you cannot give away anything
because it will start the paranoia
within the capitalist
you cannot give away anything
because it will strike competition
in the communist
you have to make them all earn it

This Friday, Feb. 18th, Anne Feeney and Chris Chandler join us for a very special evening at Cousin Andy's, the last stop on their final, last hurrah, this-is-really-it, farewell, later 'gator, so long tour.

Tune in on Friday at 4:30 to On the Backroad on WDBX 91.1 FM for a preview.... Anne and Chris live in the studio!
Now you can stream @ www.wdbx.org (click LISTEN)

For more information about Cousin Andy's,........... http://www.cousinandy.org

They call it folken word -- Anne plays guitar and sings, and Chris lays down the gospel about politics, culture, religion, food, you name it. First of all, just the sound of his voice is enough to send me over the edge. His timing and intonation are the key elements of his street genius. It's even better when you see him, because
his body language and facial expressions are priceless. He's a fearless performance poet in the folk music genre, where he stands alone. Flying Poetry Circus

Chris Chandler is a fire breathing phenomenon, the jester prince supreme. Disturbing, hilarious, and always provocative. I have known some gypsies in my time, but few have hit the highways and especially the byways like this snake oil hipster. His current foil and partner in anti-corporate crime is the ever political Anne Feeney,
touted even by Peter Yarrow and Utah Phillips as the most important labor singer in America.

Their metaphoric high wire act loads its big top full of folk music, poetry, and humor. Chandler (who has worked with everyone from Allen Ginsberg to Ani Di Franco)presents a dynamic concoction of poems and folk songs designed to rouse the slumbering subconscious of the Starbucks culture. Much of Chandler's early work was developed
with New York City poet/writer Phil Rockstroh. Since then, Chandler's had a variety of performing and writing partners, including Amanda Stark, David Rovics, Samantha Parton, Laura Freeman and many more. He's probaby the only performance poet in North America to have represented four different cities over the years at National Poetry
Slams.

Anne Feeney is no stranger to trouble. She's been on the frontlines of most her life... starting with the anti-war movement during the Vietnam war, the women's movement, and the environmental movements. But Feeney's heart belongs to the labor movement -- she's raised hell for workers at Pittston, Eastern, JP Stevens, the Frontier , AE Staley, Bridgestone/Firestone, the Detroit Newspaper Strike, AK, Kaiser, IMF & World Bank demos, WTO, G8 and many many more. Anne comes by her activism honestly. Her fiddle-playing grandfather organized for the UMWA at the beginning of the 20th century. Anne was the first woman ever elected president of the Pittsburgh
Musicians' Union, and she was also a founding member of the Women's Bar Association of Allegheny County, although she doesn't practice law any more. Her riveting performance of "Have You Been to Jail for Justice?" during Seattle's WTO protests is featured in the Big Noise film "This is What Democracy Looks Like." Na by Susan Sarandon, the film also includes music by Rage Against the Machine. Feeney's award-winning songs have made it into the repertoire of many activists and performers, including Peter, Paul and Mary.

Cousin Andy's Concert Series is a not-for-profit volunteer organization providing a smoke and alcohol free performance space. Southern Illinois' finest music listening room!!!

Music most Friday evenings during the academic year.
Doors open at 7:00 - Music starts about 7:30.

The listening 'atmosphere' at a coffee house is different than that found in a bar. People attending Cousin Andy's listen to the music, rather than converse over it. More than once, a performer new to the coffee house scene has commented that you can 'hear a pin drop in here' or has become nervous when realizing that the people
are quiet and attentive. Please come to participate in this spirit.

A suggested donation of $8 for s or $4 for students/low income is usual.

Well behaved, quiet children are free and a separate play space is available for young children and their parents. Please note that although Cousin Andy's is a family friendly music listening room, childcare is up to the s who bring children.
Since childcare is not provided, we ask you to please watch your own children or have another who is willing to do so. Help everyone have a wonderful time by helping the children keep the noise level down. The playroom is directly above the stage, so your cooperation on this matter will help the performers as well as the audience. Enjoy the music!

Refreshments are available:
all you want to drink coffee or tea, $1.00
sodas, $0.50
cookies and brownies, $1.00 each

Located in the fellowship hall of
Church of the Good Shepherd
Orchard and Schwartz Streets

As a not-for-profit organization, Cousin Andy's relies on volunteer labor for various activities - to help with publicity, to set up and take down the set (chairs, stage, sound system, etc.). If you would like to help during the setup, please arrive between 6:30-7:30 PM. If you would like to help after the concert, just stay around after
the concert and lend a hand. If you wish to offer other assistance, please contact Vern (contact info posted above).
